In-Store Demo: Coffee Cupping                                  $45

Saturday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

If you're coffee curious, then this class is for you! We'll learn about "coffee cupping," a tasting of coffee brewed via traditional drip, pour-over and French Press methods. We'll examine how different grinds impact flavor, and how even the speed at which you pour the hot water over the grounds can create a different flavor profile. We'll have some pastries as well as ample samples. This demo class is limited to 6. Please note: This class starts at 10 a.m.

 

In-Store Demo: Introduction to Wine Tasting              $50

Saturday, March 14, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

This class is for the beginning wine drinker who is looking to learn the basics of tasting wine and how to identify the kinds of grapes you like (or don’t!), giving you the ability to assess a wine list and identify the kind of wine that best suits your palate. Using the Wine & Spirits Education Trust tasting profiles, we’ll taste and discuss four wines. You’ll leave with handouts on major grapes and grape-growing regions. In-Store Demo: White Wine Tasting                          $50

Saturday, April 18, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Geared toward a beginning wine drinker, this class will focus on white wines. We’ll taste six wines, identifying light-, medium- and heavy-bodied wines from both Old World (Europe) and New World (USA, Australia, South America) vintners. You’ll leave with handouts on major white wine-producing regions to help you navigate a wine list or wine store more successfully. Please note: Sign up for all three wine classes at the same time and save 15% on all three.

In-Store Demo: Spring Fish Dinner                           $75

Saturday, May 2, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Spring vegetables like asparagus and peas are the perfect complement to fresh fish, in particular a quick-to-prepare branzino or trout. In this demo, Chef Laura will show how to make a quick Chilled Pea Soup as a first course, followed by a demo on filleting a whole round fish and serving it with Spring Vegetable Ragout of asparagus, mushrooms and new potatoes with a sautéed fish fillet. Demo also includes all recipes and a wine pairing. This demo class is limited to 6.

 

In-Store Demo: Red Wine Tasting                              $50

Saturday, May 16, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Geared toward a beginning wine drinker, this class will focus on red wines. In-Store Demo: Basic Bread Baking                          $50

Saturday, June 6, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

We’ll discuss and demonstrate the basics of making bread dough and make grissini, the thin Italian breadsticks, and the astonishingly easy “No-Knead Bread,” baked in a Dutch oven. Demo also includes all recipes and a wine pairing. This demo class is limited to 6.

 

In-Store Demo: Seafood Paella Dinner                   $75

Saturday, July 11, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Paella is a perfect summer dish that can be made on the stovetop or the grill. We’ll show you how make a chilled summer soup as a first course, and then we’ll cook and eat a sizzling seafood paella of shrimp, shellfish and spicy sausage and rice. Demo also includes all recipes and a wine pairing. This demo class is limited to 6.

In-Store Demo: North African Dinner                     $75

Saturday, Aug. 8, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Cooking Moroccan food is easy, fun and incredibly flavorful. We’ll demo how to cook a traditional tagine, which can be made on the stovetop or the grill, as well as commonly used ingredients such as preserved lemons, a streamlined harissa spice mix and DIY hummus and pita chips. Demo also includes all recipes and a wine pairing. This demo class is limited to 6.

 

In-Store Demo: “Chick-etta” Italian Dinner          $75

Saturday, Sept. 5, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

We’ll make an amazing riff on porchetta, that fat-wrapped succulent Italian pork dish, using stuffed chicken thighs and Prosciutto, served with creamed spinach, blistered tomatoes. Our first course will be Mushroom Risotto. Demo also includes all recipes and a wine pairing. This demo class is limited to 6.

In-Store Demo: Pie Crust                                            $50

Saturday, Oct. 3, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

In time for holiday pie-making, this demo class is all about learning to make pie crust, roll it out and handle it. Chef Laura will show you a fail-proof method for making your own pie crust, fitting it into a pie plate and tart shell, the technique of "blind baking" and how to make a free-form galette. Class size is limited to 6, with samples, recipes and a bit of wine.

In-Store Demo: Christmas Pudding                            $50

Saturday, Nov. 7, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Make your steamed pudding now so it can cure for Christmas! This very traditional British holiday treat is a fruit- and nut-laden treacly treat. We’ll demo how to make and steam the pudding, plus the usual accompaniment of Brandy Butter. We’ll taste the finished product with a tipple of Port. Class size is limited to 6, with samples, recipes and a bit of wine.

 

In-Store Demo: Caramel Walnut Tart                     $50

Saturday, Dec. 5, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Are you looking for a new crowd-pleasing Christmas or New Year’s dessert? This tart is it. A delicious mix of caramel and toasted walnuts in a flaky homemade pie crust, this dessert is a surefire winner. We’ll make and “blind bake” a pie crust, make caramel and taste the finished tart with a bit of dessert wine. Class size is limited to 6, with samples, recipes and a bit of wine.

The Perfect Pear Class Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds for classes.
If you are unable to attend a class and can provide notice
by Noon on the Wednesday before the class, we will credit half (50%) 
of the purchase price toward an in-store credit to be used in the shop
or against another class purchase.

In the event we must cancel a class due to weather or lack of participation, 
we will provide a full refund.
